L'Isola delle Femmine è un isolotto situato al largo settentrionale dell’omonimo comune in provincia di Palermo, Sicilia.

Isola delle Femmine is a small island off the northern side of the ho- monymous municipality in the province of Palermo, Sicily.

L'isolotto, situato nel tratto di mare tra Punta Raisi e Capo Gallo, ha una conformazione ovale dovuta all'erosione dei forti venti che spirano nella zona, dista dalla costa poco più di ottocento metri, ha una superficie di circa 0,14 km2.

The islet, located in the sea between Punta Raisi and Capo Gallo, has an oval conformation due to the erosion of the strong winds that blow in the area, and is just over eight hundred meters from the coast, and has an area of about 0.14 km2.

La sorprendente varietà di habitat ha permesso la conservazione di un patrimonio che per la flora comprende più di 140 specie.

The surprising variety of habitats has allowed the conservation of a heritage that includes more than 140 flora species.

L’acquisto della piccola isola è un’azione simbolica di riflessione sulle potenzialità e i limiti dell’uti- le e dell’improduttivo: vorremmo che diventasse un avamposto di pensiero e di sperimentazione sui temi del territorio, della proprietà relazionale e generativa e della gestione dei beni comuni, un luogo fresco e scevro da sovrastrutture produttive.

The purchase of the small island is a symbolic action that reflects on the potential and limits of profit and unproductive: we would like it to be- come an outpost of thought and experimentation on the themes of the territory, of relational and generative property and of the management of common goods, a refreshing place, free from productive superstructures.

Nel Gennaio 2020 è stata costituita l’associazione culturale ‘Femminote’.

Dopo l’acquisto l’Isola delle femmine diventerà il patrimonio sognate di una fondazione di comunità all’interno della quale tutte dovremo sperimentare nuove modelli dello stare insieme attraverso la gestione collettiva.

After the purchase, Isola delle Femmine will become the dreamed heritage of a community foundation within which we will all have to experiment with new models of being to- gether through collective management.
